Though it doesn’t quite feel like spring here, the farm is suddenly a flurry of activity. Everything was frozen and dormant for the winter, but we are now racing the clock to get plants potted, watered, mulched, tagged, and lined in neat rows for the busy season.
I didn’t expect to be back in your inbox so soon, but upon moving plants earlier this week in the softly falling snow, I thought it might be fun to share a little sneak peek of what it’s like. This will be my first spring on the farm, so perhaps you can learn along with me. I’ve been thinking about plant identification, which I aspire to do easily; at the moment, it feels especially difficult when lots of the plants just look like unremarkable brown twigs in the soil. I enjoy the learning process, though, and the days that feel a little warmer. I hope you’ll enjoy this brief glimpse behind-the-scenes.
